In my previous article Shine like a star! I mainly approached the aspect of the projection of short and medium-length films on the big screen and in festivals. There are also those that I especially don’t want to be forgotten: these web content filmmakers.
Not only is the creativity of these amateur and independent directors out of the ordinary, but they found an opportunity to be seen and to increase their audience via distribution platforms (long before production companies realized that there was a market there to chomp).
Other than animal or staged videos that generate "likes" and "clicks", there are a lot of creations on the Internet or web series that have been especially created for this medium. They offer quality entertainment, free of charge, despite non-existent funding and less resources than major television and film productions.
And there is talent! Here is a list of series that have captured my attention since my discovery of this universe in 2012:
In France there was Damned (1998 to 2016 / 2 seasons), an action serie between fallen angels and their struggle to dodge Lucifer and return to paradise. In Quebec Knuckleheads (since 2006) began with short humorous animated video clips, then again in France with Noob (since 2008 / 10 seasons) where we follow the adventures and evolutions of the Noob league in an online MMORPG game, Horizon 1.0. Also, The Visitor From The Future (2009 to 2014 / 4 seasons) begins with the story of Ralph, a young man with no history, who meets a man claiming to come from the future to try to prevent the end of the world. Finally, in Spain, Entre Pipas (2012 to 2014 / 3 season) takes us to the world where a friendship develops between Julio and Luis, two different friends who meet regularly on the same bench, to name a few.
And the creators of these series, Ruddy Pomarede (Damned), Michel Beaudet (Knuckleheads), Fabien Fournier (Noob), François Descraques (The visitor from the future) continued to evolve in their achievements by continuing their work with new series on the web and by developing products derived from their creations (DVDs, T-shirts, etc.), thus making their daring and efforts profitable.
When it comes to thinking outside the "system" and getting out of the game, I sincerely say, "Well done to them! "To have demonstrated a Kinoite ideology which is to" do well with nothing, do better with little, but do it! ".
